Intelligent customer service agent
Intelligent customer service agent
A service layer that recognizes customers from the first interaction, behaves consistently across channels, and manages handoffs to human agents smoothly.
Problem
Banking customer service must handle repetitive, high-volume questions while also supporting complex, individualized transactions. Many automation tools either ignore prior interactions or escalate to humans with little context. That hurts both customer experience and agent productivity.
Solution with Orbis Studio
Messages from customer channels enter the flow through the Banking System component and are routed to an agent flow. Agent with Mem0 carries forward what it has learned from prior conversations—preferences, past questions, reported issues—into the current response. Every customer receives answers consistent with their history.
The agent answers standard questions directly. For critical actions such as loan applications, credit limit increases, or formal complaints, HITL Gate pauses the flow and presents a summarized form to the assigned representative. If approved, the flow continues; if rejected or timed out, it routes to an alternate path.
Business outcomes
- Customer service teams focus on cases that truly need expertise; most repetitive questions never reach a human.
- Customers receive consistent, personalized responses on every channel and at any hour without repeating their history.
- Cases handed to agents arrive with context summaries and customer history—agents do not start from zero.
- Service quality stays high during nights, weekends, and peak periods.
- A full audit trail records every step for compliance requirements.
Technical details
Orbis Studio components
| Component | Role |
|---|---|
| Banking System | Ingests messages from core banking or CRM systems |
| Agent with Mem0 | Produces personalized responses with per-customer long-term memory |
| HITL Gate | Waits for agent approval at critical decision points |
| Chat Output | Returns responses to the customer channel |
Flow architecture
Mem0 configuration
| Parameter | Recommended value |
|---|---|
mem0_namespace | banking_agent |
mem0_user_id | Customer ID (CRM ID or account number) |
mem0_retrieve | true |
mem0_save | true |
mem0_relevance_threshold | 0.3 — lower threshold for broader context |
Each customer's memory is isolated. The {namespace}__{user_id} combination prevents memory leakage across agent instances.
HITL Gate configuration
The Actions table can be customized by critical action type:
| Action ID | Label |
|---|---|
approve | Approve and continue |
reject | Reject and notify customer |
escalate | Escalate to supervisor |
Configure input_schema so the form shown to agents includes the customer request, account summary, and proposed next steps.
Integration points
- The Banking System component receives real-time messages from core banking APIs or CRM systems. Use a webhook trigger or the Orbis Studio API to send messages into Orbis Studio.
- The agent can call tools to access account balances, transaction history, and similar data. Add these as Run Flow or custom components.
- Mem0 runs on Mem0 Cloud by default; point
mem0_base_urlto an on-premise deployment if required.
