Sub Flow

Legacy component

Sub Flow is a legacy component. Use the Run Flow component instead.

The Sub Flow component runs another Orbis Studio flow as a subprocess of the current flow and exposes that flow's input fields directly on the component.

When you select a flow, the Sub Flow component dynamically reads the target flow's graph and generates matching input fields on itself. You can then pass values into those inputs without opening the target flow.

The component outputs all results produced by the target flow as a list of Data objects.

Difference from Run Flow

The Sub Flow and Run Flow components both embed one flow inside another, but they work differently:

  • Sub Flow exposes the target flow's input fields directly on the component, so you can fill them in the current flow's canvas. It does not support tool mode.
  • Run Flow accepts inputs as a dictionary of tweaks and supports tool mode, allowing agents to trigger the embedded flow dynamically.

For new flows, use Run Flow.

Use the Sub Flow component in a flow

  1. Add a Sub Flow component to your flow.
  2. In the Flow Name dropdown, select the flow you want to embed. Click to refresh the list if your flow doesn't appear.
  3. After selecting a flow, the component generates input fields that correspond to the selected flow's inputs. Fill in the values you want to pass to those inputs.
  4. Connect the Flow Outputs port to the next component in your flow.

Sub Flow parameters

Some parameters are hidden by default in the visual editor. You can modify all component parameters through the component inspection panel that appears when you select a component.
